Was thinking of traveling back to Europe on the train, via the trans-siberian . All the way through Russia, so probably Harbin to Vladivostok, then through Russia, not Mongolia.

Anyway, anyone have any experience of applying for a russian visa in China?

Can I cheekily add a related request for any information on getting a Mongolian visa (from Beijing Embassy?). Anyone done it? Easy?

The Mongolian visa is easy to get (Check that you need one first,,Yanks don't)

The only trouble is that you need a few days to do it.

Day One get to the embassy early,,,I think I started lining up at 7.30, then you hand in the paperwork and they send you to the Bank of CHina Opposite the Friendship store to pay. Then depending on if you pay for an express visa or not wait X days,,then you go to the embassy to pick up the Visa, I can't remember when the pickup time is.
