I live near the north train station in Kunming. Can anybody tell me the easiest/cheapest way to get to the airport?

I'm assuming I can catch a 25 kuai shuttle but, however I'm not sure where they leave from.

take no. 61 or k1, 23, 792 to jin quan moto square金泉汽车广场(1-2 yuan), walk to bei chen cai fu zhong xin北辰财富中心, there take the shuttle, 25 yuan.

There is no more K1, its now the 236.

I think you can also take bus no. 29 or 50 to the terminal at the East Bus Station, and take the subway from there to the airport.

Unfortunately my flight is at 9:35am, and I don't think the subway starts operating until 9am (from what I've read)...

I'm aware of Beichen Fortune Centre... does the shuttle just stop at the normal bus stop on Beichen Avenue? (Cnr Beijing Lu and Beichen Ave)

If you are thinking about using the airport bus early in the morning, you need to go to Nanjiang Hotel on Dongfeng West Rd (near Wal-Mart on Renmin Lu). It is the only airport bus start running early in the morning. The airport bus start running around 6am (every 20min). The airport bus at Beichen start at 8am. Your best bet is to take the local bus (no. 61) to Wal-Mart on Renmin Lu and walk to Nanjiang Hotel (5min). No.61 start running at 6am (from the north) and it will get to northern train station stop in 15-20min. Or you can take a cab to Nanjiang Hotel, it will cost you around 12-15rmb from northern train station. I just came back from my trip to the states and I lived on Beijing Lu near northern train station. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info. Got the bus this morning no problems.
Got the ticket in a small office behind where the buses were parked.

The shuttle took about 40 mins (left at around 7:20am and arrived at 8:00am).
