Thoughts and ideas for language teachers

Since the "Visa for teachers" post was heading into another direction into more academic ideas and philosophies why not open one just for that.

Correcting with care:
I mentioned that directly correcting a student (to be fair I have to say after the age they become aware of themselves) is not a less desirable thing and I will justify short and simple.

It's not desirable because it may frustrate and expose the student in front of the class. I recommend that letting the student selfcorrect with guidance, or other studetns try to help and find the mistake together. At the very least, make it a happy and funny experience for the students to correct themselves, than the evil teacher pointing out what is wrong. Plus it has a team effort and self correcting is the best correction since it's selfdirected. Especially in China were making mistakes might be taken as a weakness, I thought it may be worth a thought.

I have good experience with it, and I would like to know what you think.
