Hi,

Can anyone recommend a smartphone repair shop?
I have a HTC Desire with a broken screen, phone is working good but no display.

Thanks.

I can't recomend as I have not used them, but there are many sale and repair places near, on the East Ring Road (Huan Cheng Dong Lu), Junction with Renmin Dong Lu and more small shops running up towards Dong Feng Dong Lu. This is mobile central.

pay 1000 ymb, you can get a new smart phone, and get your money back in 2 years at pretty much any phone shop.

you can transfer all your data free.

There is an authorised HTC repair place in Kunming where I got a new genuine HTC Desire battery and have also had my phone fixed by them. I would recommend going to these guys as they actually know all the internals of each HTC phone and while they might be a bit more expensive than the guy on the side of the road, they cover their work with a warranty and are quite professional.

Their location however - I can't exactly remember, but you may not have to either as all the shop sellers seem to know where it is (I asked 3 who all pointed me in the right direction!). Basically its on the 5th floor of a building near Xiaoximen on Dong feng xi lu nearby the Nan Jiang Hotel. The building has an escalator that is glass covered and goes up the outside of the building. Go up the escalator then take the elevator to the 5th floor. I think on the 5th floor you then turn left out of the elevator and you can find some offices with the HTC repair place there.

Thanks guys for your indications.

I went to the "wo' shop at xiaoximen (they sell phones and stuff), the guy replaced my broken screen for 270RMB.

It's working fine now.

I checked out a number of places around Xiaoximen today to replace a broken screen on a samsung note3.

"ting ting tong xun", is a shop with the greatest ripoff merchants I have ever encountered. Wanted 850.

2 or 3 places I didnt bother to note the names, did'nt want too provide a "while-u-wait" service. I.E. they either were gonna send my phone someplace else nearby to be fixed, and then add a hefty premium. Or they wanted to strip my original parts.

In the end I tried my luck at 手机维修中心 right across the street. 300rmb for a perfect job, all the parts in view all the time. The guy there is a real pro and knew exactly what he was doing. Did the job right before my eyes in 15 minutes, for 300kuai.

lesson learned: if you need a repair done, go to a place that looks like a WORKSHOP. Not a place that looks like an office with a reception desk and suited staff!

Is it possible to give a more specific location...right across the street, do you mean across Renmin Lu from the little alley that leads into Walmart?

手机维修中心 is on the right hand side, as you walk from xiaoximen towards 121 street. About 20 meters after the footbridge. There are a whole row of smartphone repairshops there, and the one I tried was the very first one, i think. From the street you can see inside, and it is obviously a workshop. I'll be back in town soon, if you need better landmarks I can write again tuesday!
