New visa for China in HK

Does anyone know how is it with getting a visa for China in Hong Kong?

I need to go there in a few weeks, but lately I heard some rumors that it is not possible to get a new visa for China in Hong Kong...

Did anyone go there lately or has some experience with the visas in HK?

Check the website for visa office in HK for information and telephone number to call them.

It's a really busy place, so I'm sure they are handing out visas. Could it be that they are denying more business visas, sure. Could it be that they are enforcing more small rules that they never bothered to, like overly worn passports or prior visas peeling off, sure. Could it be that they are being more strict in handing out visas to anyone media related or has relatives in the media, sure. It's the year of political changeover and add in the Beijing laowai crackdown, they could easily decide to do any or all of the above. However, if your passport is valid and not expiring anytime soon and you don't fill out anything that's suspicious, you should be able to get a single entry 30 day or two entry 90 day tourist visa.

Double entry 90 day visas were definitely not possible there when I went about 6 months ago. I tried and the woman at the counter told me you can only get those in your home country, the maximum they are allowed to give is 30 day double entry visas. I also asked an English couple who were after the same thing and they said they were told the same story.

I have no idea about the other visa types though.

Double entry maybe country specific. For US and Canada it seems to be obtainable in HK (though my last info was 9 months ago). US and Canada, they said the one year multiple entry tourist visa was only available home country consulates. British citizens are the most restricted and pay the most, even more than US. Not sure about other countries.
