Does Kunming have any decent resident hotels or the like? I Would love to find a hotel that would let me live there semi-permanently, maybe with a laundry service. Is this common here?

Type in "apartments" on the GoK search function.

Then see the listings. Never tried any, so it's not a recommendation.

You could also just stay at any of the hostels I listed in your previous q&a. Upland is brand new and well located near Green Lake.

If you are looking for cheap then the Camellia Hostel has a laundry room.
The Camellia Hotel (next door to the hostel) has rooms from about 200/night.
Or as Alex suggests search for [apartment hotel], but these are often up market and relatively expensive.

I just remembered, there was a person who used to post on here who wanted to set up a cheap hotel/guest house near green lake. I don't know if he is still in Kunming.

The Camellia Hostel is cheaper than the Camellia Hotel.

service apartments would be cheaper than a hotel, and for the ones that don't have a cleaner, you could always hire one.

海鑫源 (www.2901112.com) has some okay apts, though i suggest you check out a few different ones as some are older and more worn down than others. i think most/all of their apts have washing machines.

A resident hostel, why ?

You can rent a apartment so much cheaper, just forget Green Lake area, so over priced.
