The Guardian wouldn't know a Donner if it was slapped in the face by one. All it knows is lentil tea.

Fair numbers of vendors have "tur-ki-ye kao rou", ie, chicken roasted kebab style. In KM, it seems mostly to top rice & veggies. Elsewhere, I've seen it on mantou, with lettuce, grated cucumber, ssuce. I suspect the wu da na bing would be a good substitute for pita bread, but no one seems do this in practice. Suggest it to your favorite street vendor!

Personally, I find shao kao is a good alternative!
Which country or city has the best doners? I heard it's big in Russia but never been. I assume Germany is good since all Germans I know drool when they hear that word :)
It would have to be Greece, Turkey or Lebanon surely?
I thought doner means the one served in a pita or bread with meat from a rotating spit in sandwich form. Or am I mistaken?
Yes, that is doner kebab. The ones in stick are shish kebab.
