I know exactly what you mean, even though I am male.

A couple of weeks ago, the moment arrived that I had been
dreading: it was time to have my hair cut.

I've known and developed a relationship with my [hair] stylist in

London for quite a few years, so the thought of going to another
hair-dresser - especially in China and having to communicate in
Chinese - filled me with horror.

A female friend recommended the hair-dressers on the top of
东风西路, next to the cinema, on the corner of 文林街。 I do not
the price for women, but for men you can choose a hairdresser
for either 20, 60 or 120 kuai.

There was no way I was going to choose a 20 kuai haircut! So I

choose a 60 kuai cut, after having my hair washed. The stylist who
cut my hair was good, and I was pleased with the results -

although my stylist in London is better at graduating the hair at my
nape. That said, the cost was almost 1/6 what it costs me in

London!

I took my netbook to show the hair-dresser a photo of myself
of how I wanted my hair, which helped.

The hair-dressers at this place are not English speaking, but
do come recommended for both mens and womens [my fellow
female Brit] hair.

Hope that helps somewhat!

Cheers!
