Like many folks my age (72) - - the onlt thing I know about computers is how to turn it on/off. My question is: My C drive is full - - how do I transfer some of the programs to other hard drives?

Any/All help appreciated.

I know this isn't much help given the vague details of your system. I would say go to my computer to see if your other drives are full (i.e.,D:, E:, or F:). If you have space there, then it is just a simple matter of using drag and drop. This will make a copy to your other drive. Once you are sure that everything has copied over, you can delete the original.

I would think it would be better to transfer data files from C drive to free up space rather than programs. Moving programs won't update your shortcuts and you'll find that windows won't automatically update the location and may not be able to find the program after you've moved it. Then you'd have to tell windows where the program is.

If you have lots of photos, videos, etc try moving them to another drive. That's as easy as drag n' drop and won't affect anything.

You may need to buy a new hard drive, depending on how old your computer is etc. You can buy externals (boxes that plug in from the outside) and/or internal drives (no box - so the peripheral is mounted (affixed with screws) in a SPECIAL place inside the computer and attached with cables which should also already be inside the computer. All this presumes you are using a desktop versus a laptop computer.

New hard drive prices vary depending on how much storage you wish to purchase - roughly ¥200 to ¥1,000 should do the trick.

1. Age of computer
2. Desktop or laptop
3. Size of hard drive
My suggestion; a separate hard drive.

Bernie - - Desktop HP bought last yr locally. "C" drive is 14.6GB. Other hard drives (D,E,F) almost empty - - I'm trying to transfer some stuff fm C to others.
