Hello,
We're moving to Kunming with 2 young children next year.
I've seen on this site that there are some shops selling books in English... are the selections extensive enough to include some kids' books?
Just wondering if we need to be worried about bringing theirs over, or if we can buy them readily in Kunming.
Thanks!
Mandarin Books on Wen Hua Xiang has some kids' books, though not too many, and not too cheap. For example, I saw a paperback copy of The Cat in the Hat for 70 kuai (~US$10). They had Chinese stories in English for 30 kuai. There are bigger bookstores in Kunming that have many kids' books to teach Chinese kids English, but I'm not sure about the selection for native English speakers. If I were you, I'd go to a used or half-price book store in your country and stock up. Good English-language books for adults here are expensive, and imagine the same is true for kids.
