WPS and the Cloud

cloudtrapezer: appreciate your advice. This latest edition of twinkycrap happened to me in a manner somewhat like that and I've done this before myself, but this time the screen that popped up was not the same as the usual one that one gets with word. I clicked on it rapidly, obviously by mistake. Now when I go to open a documented that I have previously saved the message I get is "file is locked by another application", and I can choose to open it in read-only or not. If I chose not to open it I get a message telling me to go fix my backups at c:\users\hello\app data\roaming\kingsoft\office 6\back. When I got to c:\users\hello\ I find that there is no further entry called 'app data'. I have no 'roaming' thing, as far as I know, and I do not use a twinkyphone.
Naturally - it seems natural to me - I am now cracking up.
Somehow, I guess, I've got to do something about the backups.
I also get some damn thing about how would I like to 1G of free backup crap, apparently on some cloud somewhere; below this there is a list of my files that have been backed up - somewhere.

If it says, 'file is locked by another application', I would guess it is open in another application, or if you double clicked perhaps it is open already in the application you are using.
Maybe try closing the application (an any other application you have open) down and opening again slowly. Worth a try.

Thanks everybody. I think I have found a way to write and save: it says read-only but in fact I can write on it but each time I must save with a different name. Slow, indirect, roundabout. My hatred of this thing knows no bounds.

Try creating a new document, and then cut an paste all of the old text in the new doc.
If this does not work, there may be hidden coding in front of and after the text. If that might be the case, try cutting and pasting all but the first and last word. Then write those in afterwards.

The last security update I can locate for Works was posted September 2012. If this is correct, then it suggests you’re highly vulnerable.
