Wow!
Break it buy it scenario. I feel bad for her hopefully they can resolve this issue. If she has to pay for it then she should be able to keep it.
Due to my own stupidity,I once broke a cup in a shop, the owner asked me to pay for it, I know a bit about wholesale and retail prices so I negotiated the price and paid up.
I then put the cup in my bag, he was surprised and in my head I was thinking nothing a bit of super glue for ceramcis won't be able to fix cheers.
romancing the stone
'used in prehistoric times for tools and weapons because it is so tough' so tough that it can be broken accidentally, haha
Within Chinese culture, jade has an intrinsic value that is not related to any great rarity. I was given a jade toy, that was valued at 60 000 rmb 10 years ago. I know someone with an 'antique' jade bead bracelet valued at 200 000. Personally, I think it is overvalued, with prices driven by the nouveau riche, collectors, conspicuous consumption, and in some cases blind avarice. I have read that the piece concerned, priced at 45k was valued at 26k.
Now gold (not jewelry) is a bit more universally recognized and easy to value correctly.
How is it that something supposedly worth at least 150,000RMB to the Chinese is just sitting out for every unwitting Bik, Bo and Niu Niu to casually try on without knowing it's price?
I agree.
She was told it would cost her 44 000 dollars when it was actually worth 26 000 dollars. She should take the shop to court for causing unnecessary stress.
What a circus of events and the price of the bracelet changing dramatically.
I think it is important to remember that the whole reason she 'dropped' the bracelet was upon hearing the 'price' now imagine if she has to pay for it without purchasing it, it may just kill her. I can see the headlines 'Broken Jade breaks woman'.
I agree with 'Vicar' she should go to court and could claim for the great distress, depression, sleepless nights and nightmares the whole situation has caused her not to mention fainting episodes every now and then.
I am looking forward in hearing if she does pay up and if so how much? The irony is she broke something which is supposed to promote good health and a long life.
Also I would be curious to know if the store had any notices stating if you 'break' or 'damage' any goods then you need to pay because if not then it could go in her favour or maybe that's just wishful thinking.
