Kunming to Hekou train

Ctrip has just told me they have no information about such a train, which I'm sure is nonsense. Anybody know the schedule?

You just have to search for Hekou North. Daily trains, station is a few minutes outside of town, grab a taxi or motorcycle into town. It's then an easy walk across the border if thats your plan. I've only gone from Vietnam into China however.

or check travelchinaguide.com they always auto select nearby train stations

from hekou north you can take public bus for 2rmb instead of paying 10+ to touts / taxi drivers

ive gone both ways from and into china, isnt a big deal takes about 10min and your on the other side :)

in a call center, if you won't make any money on a call you blow them out. customer service china style

Border is open 8am till 11pm China time.

If you take the public bus out of station, you need to get on them fast, as they all leave together and fill up quickly. And once the buses leave, another set won't be back till the next train arrival. Probably need to pay 20rmb for a cab back, as the public buses back to station are difficult to get, unless you want to arrive two hours before.

Ctrip's customer service is terrible. I haven't booked with them since they cut the last letter off my name on an international flight and then wouldn't change it unless I could somehow prove I'd typed it in correctly. However I guess they need to cut costs somehow or they wouldn't be as cheap as they are. I found elong much better.
