Anyone else get large static shocks wherever you go in China
My house has a fair amount of static, sometimes on the door handles or bed sheets. Im sure half the Electrical appliances that should be earthed arent. Bloody annoying. I've use the metal coat hanger trick but it's not enough to get rid of it, any other suggestions?
I also get it so often, some people says that your body is too dry, use some lotions. Some times its to annoying, I hurt myself many times because of these shudden shocks, but couldn't fid any solution yet...
The build up of static is caused by the dry air, and synthetic materials. Cheap nylon carpets are terrible, but even the synthetics in your clothes can cause build up, especially fleece jackets. Kunming now is entering the dry season.
Simple fixes include: if you have carpets, walk in bare feet. Otherwise, touch the walls momentarily before reaching for metal door handles. Touching the wall provides a low conductivity earthing/grounding effect.
My worst nightmare was in a cheap hotel on the prairies, in summer, with nylon carpets. Metal doors, bedstead, and of course turning on taps - zap zap zap.
