Hi,
I want to send a box of possessions back to Australia. Probably about 20kgs.
Does anyone know how much this costs? How long it takes (approx)? and who is the best company to send through.
Thanks,
Paul

Just send it via the post office they will provide the box, but don't seal it till they've had a chance to rummage through your stuff. Normal air mail to Sydney is 2-3 weeks. Sea mail is cheapest but takes longer, I'm told 6-8 weeks.
Thanks Atomic,
Any idea of price?
Sorry it's been a while since I used them, you'll have to go in and ask.
You can call UPS Kunming Agent: 400 818 9188
The Price is: 300RMB for first Kg and 100RMB per Kg for the rest part. It will be directly delivered to your receipient in 7 working days.
Back of the envelope calculation tells me that sending 20kgs to Australia via UPS would cost about 450 AUSD If you aren't in a hurry and you don't get what you want from the post office, then last I looked sevenseas will send 30kg tea chests or book boxes to between Kunming and Sydney (via sea mail), for 269 AUSD.
We used the china post. The costs are from memory about 93rmb for the first kg and then about 15rmb per kg after that upto 20 kg. That's slow post (surface mail) so it takes 6-8 weeks. We posted several boxes and they all arrived safe and sound, some rummaged by customs though.
Oh and the boxes are about 12rmb too - for the largest one they have at the post office. We posted about 15 boxes and the average would have been about 280rmb so check out the seven seas from atomic above.
