Foreigner dies in Kunming traffic accident?

Alien (3819 posts) • -1

Has anybody pinned down whether there was, in fact, a foreigner killed in a traffic accident in Kunming recently, and if so who was she/he? Might be a good thing to do before any more discussion of the topic of foreigners being killed in Kunming traffic.
Furthermore, if there was a person killed, is there any particular significance to his/her having been a foreigner?

@Alien

Local news mentions it, what else do you need, a certificate of some kind?

And of course there is interest to it if it is a foreigner, it may be your good buddy. Or maybe someone can identify the victim. Foreigners tend to stick to communities abroad, in same way Chinese care about their mates in Paris.

Oh, your point is why we dont cry to a Chinese traffic accident, aint that so. Lets guess the answer: we are all racist.

I would expect the person's name, at least. Probably shouldn't be too difficult for the press to find his/her nationality and other particulars as well.

Well, bring in the crystal ball then. Why should a foreigners name be such a big issue in media, are you racist against Chinese?

Some people have no friends or buddies, foreign or chinese.

They remain indoors most of the time and they order food online and have it delivered.

When they do go outside, it is usually during evening hours when it is dark and they usually wear a hoody and a Guy Fawkes mask so as never to be recognized and give up their anonimity.

As the OP asked, 'anyone we know?' If it was someone that I, and maybe a few of friends had known, I would probably raise a glass in acknowledgement of his/her passing and wish them RIP.
Playing the race card here is a bit idiotic IMHO.

Okey, thats good to know around this topic. Campo walks in daylight, has a Chinese mate and eats at local restaurant.

Big trucks in China are a law to themselves. In recent years the number of heavy goods licences given out has declined and many of the farm billies behind the wheel of lorries nowadays have licences stemming from when you could just march in and buy one.

You don't have to watch a lot of Liveleak to keep abreast of the eternal battle between trucks and ebikes in China.

Seeing as none of us know much about it, lets not presume it to necessarily be the trucks fault. Ebikes drive just as carelessly and often their operators don't believe red lights apply to them or that they should use lights at night.

My employer tried to pass an ebike off to me as 'transport' when I first arrived. It didn't take long before I asked them to change it for a car.
- Which is another vehicle driven erratically by pricks.

Stupidity by one party or the other cost someone their life. I'd like to think it would serve as a lesson, but it won't.

Friends of tigertiger should know, if they get in fatal accident, he will assist their case by raising a glass in acknowledgement.

Choose your friends with care.
