You should ask that question of those who are working with a spouse visa. Many forum members here with spouse visa who are working and some also have work visa.

If it's your only choice at the moment then you do what you have to. I'm sure it'll be every 60 days to leave the country. I don't know what you mean about being lucky to get 180 days because the rules are what they are as far as I know.
As far as I recall, the last discussion was that it's still illegal to work on the spouse visa alone, unless you have that unicorn permanent residency.
I think the 180 days isn't on a ten year visa. It exists, but on 2 years for Chinese descendants or immediate family in China still.
If it's money you're worried about, take the train to Guangzhou, change to fast train to Shenzhen, cross border, take commuter train to Kowloon & stay in Chungking Mansions for HK$200/night (with family it will be a bit more, of course). When I'm in Hong Kong I eat for about HK$200/day. Shame to go all that way & not bother to look around the city.
Alien has a point, just go to HK and enjoy yourselves. It's a great city when you're not pinching pennies. Also, Visa works in lots of shopping malls or grocery chains. The airport tourist info has some interesting guides, make sure to grab the one about parks and biking. It's really helpful and not the usual shopping guide.
I have no idea why you keep mentioning illegal work on a spouse visa. You should direct that comment tho those who are working illegally on a spouse visa.
Taking that a little defensively.
Back to HK visa run, the airport buses are all double deckers and the top deck front seats will provide some good views, but you'll have to be familiar with stops to see if it will place you near where you want to be. Dragging luggage around HK isn't pleasant on the surface.
Well, I will be there for 4 days since it takes that long for the process. Just a backpack will suffice for each person. And yes, there is no such thing as 180 days for a 10 yr visa, not about getting lucky... there are rules.
I don't see how someone can go broke from exiting the country every 2 months... it's not that expensive... must be an unemployed loser, your friend.
