New to the forum. I am looking at moving to Kunming for work. This will be my first expat job. I am wondering what area of Kunming has a general large population of expats? As well, are there any other websites you recommend to get tips and pointers for moving to china?

There are 'expats' (foreigners) scattered all over the city, but probably the highest concentration is just north/ north west of the city centre

I prefer the area within walking distance of the old Yunnan University campus (also near Yunnan Normal U campus and others) (say, within 2-3 kilometers) - I am NOT referring to the new universitiy campuses near Chenggong, which is rather dead. Plenty of foreign expats, largely westerners.

You say you are moving to Kunming for work. Does that mean you have a job with a company that wants to send you here, or are you going to look for work in Kunming?
In both cases your place of work may have some bearing on your choice of place to live.

My advice is read the news and stay where you are.
