Home for xmas is fine if you live with a western family. My Chinese family don't really appreciate the effort for the meal, the music is alien to them, and they only really enjoy the tree.

If you are an 'orphan' at xmas, like many expats here, then going out with friends to celebrate, have a good meal, hanging out, and enjoying the xmas spirit, is needed. I know I appreciate it.
