Here we go again - 4th time this week! - It is repetitive threads like this that bring out the sarcasm in people - do you see a pattern yet?

Those characters are probably most common in Yunnan after 昆明. Just look out of your window Campo and there they are.

Its like someone was demanding a translation of "café au lait" in Paris.

Its like this: if you do not know or recognize those characters after, say, 3 months in Yunnan, you are "the ignorant foreigner".

Its like Big Mac and Elvis.

This forum serves 2 purposes; Information (Useful) and entertainment (Useless). This thread definitely falls into the useless entertainment category or more exactly, the looking for Attention category.

I guess you missed the point Peter - You can not be a Sinofied Foreigner if you have only been in China for "several" months as the OP has already stated.

My favorite Mixian is - Guo Qiao Mi Xian - 过桥米线 - and that is how I would write it if I was providing information to others. Why is everyone so damn angry about food here? It is really weird. This forum's name is what? "Food & Drink". If it's not to post about food in, then what is it for exactly?

Chinese characters are a kind of Secular Gnosis and should be encouraged on a Kunming forum. Its the communication of the Chosen ones. Not the bar heroes.

So which category does your crooning about your favorite mixian fall under? Do you think the forum at large cares about what you like or dislike? If you have a valid question about the recipe, the origin of the dish, or the locations where you can find similar foods, then I'm sure you'll get more useful answers. However, when you start a self-serving thread that has no purpose other than attention seeking, that's when you get the negative reaction.

Guess what, the other day I unloaded a massive turd that looked like the Pope (my apologies to the Catholics), should I start a thread asking if other people have had excrement that resemble famous people?

And finally, to discuss food in the food and drinks section is not your exclusive domain where you get to set the rules. You have the right to talk about food and everyone else have the right to react angrily to it. So, keep talking about food and such, it is your right. But do not recoil at the repercussions and cry foul. You want to play the game then be willing to take it hits, that's life.

But then I don't expect much from people that exhibit mattish behavior.
