Yeah, I think the place was 200 kuai a person. You can order as much as you want (some special dishes have to be ordered separately for extra), and I believe the alcohol was free flow as well (not really sure, as my friend brought a case of wine, but that's usually the deal).

yeah there are tep. diners everywhere but the usually only offer from the menu.
buffets are gluttony. just order from the menu and order different dishes every time to go to maintain variety.
tend to agree, most buffets poor value unles you gonna pig out. intercontinental hotel 360rmb and you only get one beer. even cheap buffets are 150 up. you could get several meals for that if you eat normal dishes.
Someone mentioned desserts.
There is a craze for desserts and really sweet and very cheap patisserie, the kind that looks like blancmange on a sponge base. Also custard tarts made with industrial shortening, and costing about 1.5 rmb each.
Also, cold (but not iced) sweetened milk tea, cold coffee, sweetened soy milk drinks, high sugar smoothies etc.
In fact high sugar drinks, and high sugar high fat bakery, is the mass market.
If we are thinking of concept restaurants, from what I have seen, the market in Kunming is not yet ready for nouvelle cuisine, you get in the tier one cities, and then only in the very expensive hotels and restaurants. Most Chinese, despite what they may tell you, are very conservative when it comes to food. They will often tell you why your food is terrible, and Chinese food is the best in the world, even if they are suffering with 'laduzi' at the time.
Wow, I can see why the Moderators would vanish all the comments speculating what the OP name meant, but to delete the OP original response is just sad. Cuuul explained what he or she meant by F&B, also mentioned they were busy with work, but thankful for the responses so far. How in the world did that violate tos? And thanks to this vanishing of comments, it looks like Cuuul never responded to HFCAMPO remark about OPs who never reply back.
Restore Cuuul's 2nd post plz.
Thanks for unlocking the thread (after editing). Is ANYONE aware of French Bistro type food and bakeries? French Cafe is kind of ok - but it's really more of a bar & grill as opposed to a bistro. A bistro is usually owned and managed by the chef - who takes professional pride in his/her establishment, themselves, and their staff.
For the French bakeries - their products are beautiful without the sugar and slop that most chinese bakeries slather onto and into their confections. Same concept - owner operated and managed - professional pride and self respect.
