I still think it is unfair that we are unable to travel in this great country for a few days here and there when we are on student visas. We have paid the money to study.. why does it matter if we miss a day or two of classes provided we follow the procedure of notifying the school of our abscence?

On a side note, I heard some people were kicked out as they were caught working (monkey shows) on a student visa. Why is the "Student visa that allows you to work" unobtainable? In most other countries in SE Asia, you are entitled to work on a student visa, to cover your living expenses. However, of course in China we are not allowed to, unless we get this elusive visa. Does anyone hold ( or know anyone who holds) this visa?
It seems a lot of people would avoid a lot of heartache if they could apply for this visa and legally work part time on a student visa.

"14. What work authorization and internship opportunities are available to foreign students with residence certificates for study?
Under the new rules, a person with a residence certificate for study who wants to take a part-time job or internship off campus should obtain approval from the school, then apply to the PSB Exit-Entry Administration for a notation to the residence certificate showing the part-time job or the location and period of internship off campus. (State Council regs, art. 22). Notice that short-term students with X2 visas do not have such opportunities.

The law delegates to the Ministry of Education the obligation to establish a framework for foreign students to obtain work authorization. (EEAL, art. 42.). As of May 1, 2014, the national framework has not been published. Shanghai has issued interim rules that allow for off-campus practical training without pay (except for reimbursement of travel and meal expenses). Yet in many cities it's not yet possible to apply for authorization for a part-time job or internship, except on an ad-hoc basis.

It's illegal for foreign students to work without authorization or beyond the scope authorized. (EEAL, art. 43(3).)

In contrast, under former rules, "work-study" was allowed in accordance with the school's regulations. (Rules on Foreign Student Enrollment in Institutions of Higher Education, promulgated Jan. 31, 2000, by the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs, and Public Security, art. 36)."

Sorry for going off topic a little bit.

So i just handed my passport over for renewal at the uni I transferred to. Did your visas and permits get denied before you filled out all the paperwork, paid the visa fee, and hand over your passport? Just like kcel there was no police interview.

Yesterday I've been told that I have to complete an internship in order to graduate, I wonder how's that going to work out in Kunming.

@serrure. enroll in a school, attend classes, and find a part-time internship. As long as you haven't graduated from university yet it's fine, but you have to be on a student visa. no other visa possible

I'm not sure whether I want to study at a school that sees to it that you have to leave Kunming once you feel like choosing another private school.

I was wondering if you had some kind of a major disagreement with the people at KCEL and if they felt angry because of your behaviour.

It seems bad enough that a school gets you blacklisted because they have a personal problem with you, but if KCEL ruins further study plans by having you leave Kunming simply because you want to change schools, I would not want to study there at all. Ever.

Could you please elicit what exactly led to KCEL messing with you in such a bad way?

Thx.

so i actually went for psb interview. i transfered from kcel, no problems what so ever. they asked simple questions in chinese. approved in minutes after taking picture and giving over paperwork. so im doubtful its kcel that is blasting you. it has nothing to do with previous school. the pattern is huayang, no other people from any other school have got denied. so seems its their fault not anyone elses, they should be taking care of their students.

questions asked were where do you live, how much do you pay for rent, how do you pay, why are you studying in china, do you understand chinese law, and a few little things. i traveled during school year and rarely went to class for over 3 years. if you raised hell and demanded refunds and burned bridges, and cant even understand basic chinese thats your fault.
