I'm moving to another apartment this weekend and I have a few things such as mattresses and cabinets that I'm taking with me. I can move most of my possessions by taxi, however the items such as the mattresses are large so I need a vehicle with more room to transport them. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a "man with a van", someone who can help me lug my furniture downstairs, put it in their van or something similar, then help me take it upstairs at my new place (fortunately my new place has an elevator, unfortunately my current place is on the 6th floor and has no elevator).
I'm moving my things progressively over the weekend but I want to actually hire a "man with a van" on Monday afternoon.
If anyone knows anyone please give me a heads up. Cheers.
How much stuff is it? We moved a whole room setup (wardrobe/drawers/table/bed/bicycles plus about 20 boxes) using 3 guys that come in a fairly large truck. You pack up everything (though they unscrewed the bed for us), they load it into the truck and unload at your new place. Pretty good guys and STRONG. We were done in 2 hours. Yes, 2 HOURS!
They were locals though, so hopefully your Chinese is good! Was 250 kuai, there number is 67158896 - 激发光家 ji2 fa1 ban1 jia1 (company name). We bargained a bit to get the price down from 250 but gave them 250 in the end because they did such a good job and so fast! They charge more for stairs etc too though (we went from elevator apartment to 1st level).
By "fairly large truck" I mean probably about the size of 2-3 mian bao che's.
We used ANT movers recently. Fast, professional, and local. I think it is a franchise.
Not sure of phone number or cost sorry.
Ant is as professional as it gets for local movers, but will cost double the company blobbles used. Same their van is like 2x to 3x main bao che size and three movers.
There used to be man with the van in the form of a guys with a man bao che waiting in front of the old puji 2nd hand market. But with the market vacated several months now, no clue if any still hang around there. Maybe check around your ciao qu or the one your moving to, or possibly another used market like huangtupo.
Ahh, the wonders of android auto correct :)
man bao = mian bao
ciao qu = xiao qu
Stairs are extra. Usually between ¥10-50 per floor (moving out AND moving in).
Elevators don't count (no extra charge).
No need for a man with a van, some matresses and cabinets can be transported by scooter :)
@Blobbles, just called the company you suggested, they want 400! I have very few things to move, and we told them that.
Ugh.. still looking!
Someone in my complex used the Ant company yesterday, and they seemed to do a darn fine job!
They picked a hell of a day to move, though.
