Learning Chinese

Haali (1178 posts) • 0

I'm thinking about taking Chinese class. I had a 1-1 tutor for a while in 2012-13 but haven't studied properly since. I'd say my Chinese is elementary (not absolute beginner). So I'm thinking perhaps it might be fun to learn Chinese in a small class, say maybe 6-12 people, where I can practice my appalling Chinese on fellow foreigners with (hopefully) a lower degree of embarrassment whilst still under the guidance of a teacher.

Does anybody have any recommendations about places to learn? My main limitations are time and money (I work 4-5 days a week and I'm trying to save up a little money for the future). I could perhaps make 1 or 2 classes per week. I know of Robert's and Keats. Does anybody have any advice about them or other centres? Ideally someone who is taking such a class at the moment or took it recently, as the stuff I've read on here is like 3 years old.

I found KCEL okay some years ago, but I found Keats slightly better the following year.

any more information you could give would be great, Alien. On Keats website it seems they only do intensive courses, is that true?

Anybody been to KCEL more recently?

I enjoyed my course at roberts school, just finished it this month and it always was good learning at the school. Think most courses are 2 hours a day though but they may have other options :)

Keats was doing small classes beginning 2011 Fall semester, I thought they still were.
