Creative industry (film production) in Kunming

I've been living in Shanghai for two years, and although it's been excellent to me in regards to work and fun, I want to move to a city that serves as a better base for travelling.

Currently, my choices are between Guangzhou and Kunming. I know Guangzhou and HK already have pretty solid creative industries, and don't really have any worries about finding work in either, as I have a good reputation, equipment and skills.

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience working in the film industry, and could provide some advice about how much work there is, its comparative pay rates, etc.

I know I'm unlikely to be getting my normal day rate (3,000+), and probably won't be shooting for the large brands I do currently, but I have no qualms with doing weddings and small, local adverts if it means I can follow my own personal desires and travel and document richer cultural stories.

I also presume with close proximity to Burma I could have a good shot at getting some international news work. I also have good connections in Bangkok and Vietnam, so would probably get some supplemental income from there.

As a side-note, how much does private tutoring generally earn in KM? Due to its flexibility and small time commitment, I tutor around 5 hours a week in Shanghai, for 300 p/h, which pays for the vast majority of my living expenses.

Would 200 p/h be too higher expectation in Kunming?

Thanks for your responses, in advance.

200 p/h is possible in Kunming, but there is some disagreement about whether it is deserved.

I think a better plan would be to earn and save a few more months in Shanghai, and then just devote all your time to minority villages in Yunnan, Guizhou, and Guangxi. Until the land border with Burma opens up to foreigners, you're unlikely to find anyone knocking on your door for Burma requests, as you'll just fly there like anyone else.

Film work is a Chinese TV show once a year shooting in some old town or jungle setting in Yunnan or Guizhou.
