The 13th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships will be held on the Dianchi Lake, Kunming, from October 17 to 23. At present, over 2,500 athletes from 24 countries and areas have signed up for this event. By report, this event ranks the highest profile international sporting event sponsored by Kunming and Yunnan.

Featured with the charm of Dianchi Lake, this even is aiming to demonstrate the achievement of water pollution treatment of Dianchi Lake, improve citizens' environmental awareness and inherit the culture and spirit of dragon boat festival.

To ensure the successful holding of the event and provide better participation experience for players, the Kunming Municipal Government had conducted an upgrading project to the dam from April to October.
