Tea plantations in Yunnan

I'm genuinely interested in tea and planning a trip to tea places of Yunnan this summer. Looking for like-minded people, who'd be interested to join me. I would also appreciate any advice on the route.

My hometown is Menghai in Xishuangbanna and it is famous for tea and Chayama. What is more, my mom is working at this field. She knows more about tea. Perhaps you can visit Pu'er and Xishuangbanna.

Hi! I think Yunnan is definitely the wright place to do a "tea trip". I'm from a local-based travel agent, "Wonders of Yunnan" and we are mainly qualified to run the business for foreigners travelling to Yunnan. Recently, we tailor made a tea tour around Yunnan for one of our traveller, we know the route and we can help you.

You can check our website and feel free to contact us via: [email protected].
Welcome in Yunnan!

Hi,
You can use this map I made to help you plan your trip (requires vpn):

As you can see, tea production is concentrated most heavily in the southwestern prefectures of Banna, Puer, Lincang, Baoshan, and Dehong.

But if it's the old tea trees you're looking for, you're best off heading to Banna.

GoKunming had an excellent article a few months back about traveling in the tea plantations of Shuangjiang:

Ed at Red Rock Treks also has a great piece on exploring the tea plantations and old tea trails around Yiwu in Banna:
