Forums > Living in Kunming > Many Condo complexes (小区) are giving Covid testing

This is indeed a screwed up mess with poor to no thought put into the plan.

1. My friend phoned the subway head office again this afternoon and was told once again that their is no requirement to show a test for the subway.

If people are being asked for it then there is evidence of miscommunication.

2. We live at the start/end of two bus routes (the only routes in our district).

My wife went to talk to one of the drivers who said there was indeed a requirement for testing on the buses - however - they don't have time to check everyone, especially in rush hour.

They still need to keep to their schedule.

3. They are now doing testing across the road from our community.

Big lineup and it's causing traffic jams as well.

Many, many complaints now from those people because they're being told that it will take 24 hours to get the results!

I think there has been a major miscommunication somewhere. I checked with a friend who i the GM of a Crowne Plaza hotel in Chongqing.

She had a look at the official notification from the government which they received the other day.
The requirement is for 48 hours testing before interprovincial travel (by plane, train or automobile).

There was not mention of 24 hours for anything local.
Does anyone in this group have access to either Yunnan or Kunming government websites to see if there is a local policy?

This article on GICExpat dated Sept 9 indicates there is a China wide 48 hour testing requirement for subways, buses, etc.
I'm bothered by this statement "passengers must present a negative nucleic acid test certificate within 48 hours before boarding planes, trains, buses or other means of transportation." which doesn't define what those other means of transportation would be.

Do I need a covid test to take a taxi?

Do I need a covid test to get in my wife's car?

Nobody in my wife's very large community group knows about these new restrictions.

It appears they only apply to expats.

Strange.
A friend phoned the subway admin office for me yesterday (9-10) and was told there was "no need" for the Covid test (yet).

She also reported that they weren't enforcing it strictly (yet).

Meanwhile, my wife's community group has not reported this either.

It sounds like communication of the rules is not consistent, even within those areas that are supposed to monitor and enforce.

If a 24 hour negative test result is required to board buses or subway, how does anyone get to the testing places?

They're not all local, we don't all drive, and we don't all use Didi.

There are just 18 confirmed cases in Kunming now yet they're getting close to locking down more than 3 million.

Geezer, here's a quote from the article: "This is a good thing. Being able to board the new train directly at Kunming's main train station"

There are two types of dialysis machines. My mother had a peritoneal machine in her home. It used the same kind of water used in IV drips, but in much larger bags. A nurse came to her home each evening to connect it and each morning to disconnect. There was some surgery required to insert the connections in her abdomen.

When that was no longer working they chose to go with hemodialysis, but they would not do that at home - only hospital. I don't know if that has changed in the past 10 years.

I flew into Kunming Sunday afternoon. There were fluffy white clouds, all nestled in a sea of grey. It was not pretty.

Had my first ever visit to Slice of Heaven last night for a group party. Barbara recognized me as a newcomer and immediately came to welcome me and introduce herself.

While speaking with her at the counter, a server walked past with a pizza for one table. The aroma immediately caught my attention. It was awesome.

Our group shared 4 different pizzas. All were amazing. I think the sauce really makes the difference since it was very flavourful. I also put back to cups of cappuccino. I guess they must have fixed problems noted in other reviews because I found it to be quite good.

If I lived closer I would be a regular here.
