Usually when I see these questions about Gmail I try it and have no problems. I tried before responding and connected OK, then disconnected the VPN and tried again. It timed out!

I've been told that a lot of what is supposed to be good is actually cheap fake stuff in a good bottle (re-corked or course).
I'm having no problem with gmail except for the fact that's where all my SPAM arrives. It's working right now (I checked before posting this reply).
@justalex,
Not as hard as it sounds. although my wife is a Kunming girl she had moved to Toronto and gained Canadian citizenship, so going to Las Vegas on Canadian passports was pretty easy. I agree it would be difficult (if not impossible) for a Chinese citizen to accompish.
You're living dangerously by asking a bunch of dirty old men what to wear. Short shorts and mini skirts seem to be the fashion here from what I can see (and I look a lot). Suggest you spend the first day just looking around to get comfortable with what to wear.
Temperatures have been really weird the last week or so. The high temp yesterday was only about 20C while last week it was around 35C, so you might want to pack a few layers (or just go shopping when you get here).

Had my first ever visit to Slice of Heaven last night for a group party. Barbara recognized me as a newcomer and immediately came to welcome me and introduce herself.
While speaking with her at the counter, a server walked past with a pizza for one table. The aroma immediately caught my attention. It was awesome.
Our group shared 4 different pizzas. All were amazing. I think the sauce really makes the difference since it was very flavourful. I also put back to cups of cappuccino. I guess they must have fixed problems noted in other reviews because I found it to be quite good.
If I lived closer I would be a regular here.
Singapore preparing for high-altitude challenge

Kunming launches forum site for foreigners
发布者I'm not sure this is actually a competitor site. The Kunming government has a responsibility to encourage and develop new sources of investment and tourism. In this new site they are simply doing their job.
It's possible they may have access to information that would not be immediately available to GoKunming, and vice versa, so the two sites could actually be complementary rather than competitive.
As for their skill with the English language, so what if it's not perfect. It's way better than my knowledge of the Chinese language and in general I can understand what they are trying to say.
