If alignment isn't critical, I have used a match on each side of the hole. The screw crushes them to the side. Matches will also glue nicely.

The only place that has this under one roof is B&Q. It is in the north of the city.
It is at the end of YuanBo Lu, the extension of BeiChen Da Dao (same road as the Metro store), where it intersects Bailong Lu.
There are also two large decoration markets. The first is at DaShangHui, this is just off Guangfu Lu, Jct with Qianxing Lu. On the North side of Gaungfu lu. Unfortunatley half the area is now under redevelopment, and a lot of the smaller cheaper guys have gone. Although most of the cheats will always be among the lower end of the trade/price traders.
The other market is Daguanlou. This is on the road that runs directly under the elevated section of the 2nd ring road, ErHuan Nan Lu. Under the dog leg where the road swings left to go to Anning/Dali and before it forks right for the W Ring Road. There are more low end traders here. more choice, some really cheap stuff, but remember that here cheap usually means poor quality.
Both markets have major brand name suppliers.
Unless you know your onions, there is a real risk of buying stuff of much lower quality than you really want, and of paying over the odds.
We found that for paints, B&Q are very competitive on like for like quality. The bathroom stuff the same (sometimes cheaper as there are special offers). Also if you have a faulty product they will exchange, no hassle. The only thing I would say is one expat, had a bad experience with a back order from manufacturer, buying at B&Q. However, we had no such problem with the same supplier and a back order.
Metalwork (taps etc) I would only buy from B&Q.
Sorry i don't know the bus routes.
I think the driver had drawers full of mcnuggets ;-)
@Sarah....Not sure what you mean by a building supplies store, as the only thing resembling a general building supplies store is B&Q. But there are markets. What is it that you are looking for, and maybe we can suggest where you could buy it.
Yes, I think if you hold your hand up to block their view, the word 'NO' is universal now. Even some pre-school local kids can be heard using it.

Great to know it is no longer dry.
Good review BTW
This has moved.
The cut flowers are about 700m east on Duonan Jie. The plants and trees are about 700 m west and follow Duocai Section.
A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.
Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.
In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.
They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.
They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.

发布者Off topic, but related to theme songs. When we watched terrestrial TV we listened to the whole theme, even if only in the background while we quickly made a cup of tea or finished off some other chore. With streaming, or watching box sets, we quickly FF over the theme song and titles. We are missing a lot of great music.
Everything else said by the last two posters can be captured within the idea that we no longer live in a society, we live in a market.
