One of my students told me her mother has a bread machine that can be set to make yogurt. Not sure what the mechanism is, but if you have a small kitchen it could be ideal.

Not sure of the brand either, I am sure it will be on taobao.

As a former Toastmasters member, I will second what Ocean says. Toastmasters is more about developing public speaking and leadership skills, predominantly in English, although there is a Chinese language skill branch.
English corner is about developing colloquial speaking skills, and socialising. Again, mostly in English, but there are language exchange opportunities.
Both are serve a different purpost, and both are equally important.

Buying from an old lady in a village would be much safer than buying in the city. If the old lady is from the village, and serving locals, she is unlikely to ".... on her own doorstep', so to speak. Next best thing to knowing the farmer. In fact she may well be related to the farmer.

Just last month there was a case of a large rice noodle producer in Kunming who was found using water from a footspa place to make rice noodles. And I have seen them washing wild vegetables in urban water courses (black) before going to market. These people would not eat the stuff themselves.

Third batch of yog.
Still using the store bought live yog as starter.
Left for 9 hours, then directly to fridge from incubator. Noticeably thicker and a little bit tart, perfect. for my taste.

Next batch will be using my home home made live yog as starter.

Looking at the link in the last post. Really got me thinking about the carbon footprint of all the share bikes in China. Following on from that the footprint of all of the disposed of share bikes. If we remember these bikes are mostly steel, the production has a considerable environmental effect. These bikes seem to be disposable, which begs a question about the sustainability of the business model as well.

Astronomical monsters are often built in the middle of nowhere. Less interference from human activity. Guizhou fitted the bill.

If I was developing super computers, I would expect to do it somewhere where I could work secretly. I would also want physical security for something that will become a vital part of the telecoms/economic infrastructure. Guizhou has a history of building secure facilities inside mountains.

On a slightly different note, Guizhou seems to be developing must faster than Yunnan and may even have overtaken it. Guiyang has transformed itself in the last 15 years, and seems to have already overtaken Kunming. Some people were obviously very hard at work, while others were resting on their laurels.

Addendum. These peddle boats seat up to 7. The water is very high quality. The sun sets later on the east side. On the west you have the mountains shadow and loose the sun much earlier in the day.

This has moved.
The cut flowers are about 700m east on Duonan Jie. The plants and trees are about 700 m west and follow Duocai Section.

A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.

Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.

In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.

They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.

They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.
