Good point. By next year the 4 (then 5) year old should be able to walk most of a day. Then you only have to carry the smaller kids.

@Lisey, you could start them off on Xishan. You can take the metro to Xishan Forest Park station, which is the end of line 3 (I think it is 3). You can get them used to walking up hills. You don't need to go to the top and when they get tired you can walk down again and get lunch or an ice cream. There is a small tourist area at the bottom of the mountain and the road runs through it, no cars.
I got some in Metro (south) this week.
Easy to get by in daily life with basic speaking skills maybe, but not school work. My Chinese nephew is 7 and you should see how much homework he gets. His mother sits with him for about 2 hours everyday. I say this to make the point that it is not kindergarten, and it is not like a UK primary school, and is study of all subjects through the medium of Chinese. He struggles with Mandarin as he had only spoken localhua before.
I am not saying a 7 year old British kid can't do it, but it wouldn't be easy. If he is a little swot, the outlook would be brighter.
Is there something special about this individual phone. It might just be cheaper to pay to buy a phone at domestic (US) prices.

Great to know it is no longer dry.
Good review BTW
This has moved.
The cut flowers are about 700m east on Duonan Jie. The plants and trees are about 700 m west and follow Duocai Section.
A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.
Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.
In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.
They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.
They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.

发布者True, but they are taking everyone else's. Perhaps a new spin on nimbyism.

发布者@opper, the issue of the toilets in local businesses is the standard of the plumbing, which can be integral to the building and so it is hard to change.
Some of the older buildings would have had retro fitted plumbing, as they were built in the days of the communal toilets at the end of the street. As such the sewer system in the street is also not up to the job (no pun intended).
