My avoidance of Chinese food is that I live outside the city and the restaurants here are 'fancy', or unappealing. If I am going out to treat myself, it is with western food. I eat Chinese at home, and so I need a change.
I do avoid fast foods, a lot of my problem was the 'modern' Chinese diet, excessive oil, fatty meat, cooking in pig or chicken fat, salt, MSG, sugar, etc. But you can't tell a 65 year old Chinese mother-in-law how to cook, and you can't throw her out of the kitchen.
I now cook my own food, and to be honest, I don't like most Chinese food. Back home, yes. But here, no. Especially not Chinese home cooking.
I want to buy a reasonable quality bike, I am trying to find out locations of GOOD bike shops.
I don't want to spend mega bucks and I am not interested in a 500rmb bone shaker of basic quality. I see there are maybe hundreds of bike shops along the HuanCheng Lu (ring road) selling basic machines.
I would like to know where to find the bigger brands, specific locations if possible. Maybe somewhere with good service (asking too much perhaps).
I am also trying to find something other than a mountain bike or a road/racing/triathlon bike.
Thanks for the inputs guys.
Actually, the quality Chinese knives are cheaper on Amazon than they are here. Once you mover away from the basic mild steel with wood handle, the prices get silly in China. The same with saucepans, most of which are made in China.
Regards thieves at customs, would you not have the same problem even importing your 'gift' from China?

Great to know it is no longer dry.
Good review BTW
This has moved.
The cut flowers are about 700m east on Duonan Jie. The plants and trees are about 700 m west and follow Duocai Section.
A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.
Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.
In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.
They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.
They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.

发布者Off topic, but related to theme songs. When we watched terrestrial TV we listened to the whole theme, even if only in the background while we quickly made a cup of tea or finished off some other chore. With streaming, or watching box sets, we quickly FF over the theme song and titles. We are missing a lot of great music.
Everything else said by the last two posters can be captured within the idea that we no longer live in a society, we live in a market.
