When we first had buses to the airport, the first flight and first bus didn't work out either. Now it does. Given some time, theyll have a really early bus to the the train station. Have to wait until then. Don't think the subway will ever adjust, as I've rarely seen a first subway before 5:40am in any city in China.

It was highspeed, reached 200 plus kmh at some lengths. Can't remember if it was sold as D or G train, as that line was alternating. I did buy the ticket as standing, so wasn't bumped into it by missing a train. Also, this was two years ago, so, policies maybe not the same anymore.

There must of been an emergency dam or reservoir release upstream. Most of the southeast near and past the 2nd ring also had flooded under passes and xiaoqus. Lots of the drainage canals and rivers were near full.

You'd just have a standing seat ticket. You can take any open seat in your class. But that means for some segments you might have a seat, and some not. I was in this situation for the Wuhan beijing line. I'd say I ended up sitting for the first half, then standing mostly for second, so like 2 hours plus standing total. One option is if there is a dining car, sit and order a meal, and stay seated there after, but the dining car fills fast and pretty limited. I'd suggest a taxi early morning, maybe 100rmb, but will be super fast as zero traffic. Or take the first subway to the south bus station and grab a taxi from there, but that's a bit more risky. I would definitely show up at least 15 min prior for G trains. Some gates are airport style, meaning they'll close prior and just not let you pass, even if you could run it to train in time. Granted I say this from experience with various other g trains in other lines, haven't taken the kunming line yet.

Interesting article, but it seems the Chinese hill tribes didn't really seem to have kept the crossbow culture alive either. They are just more enterprising than the Thai and make crappy ones for sale?

You know, your fear mongering with regards to vaccines is easy to ignore or tolerable when it just about adults, but when it pervades into children vaccinations, it moves into the realm of despicable.

Never gotten sick once at Sals. Their food is TexMex, so yeah, not authentic Mexican food, but pretty authentic as TexMex goes. Burrito wrap has improved a lot. Like the draft beer option now.

If you haven't had dairy products in a while, and do eat here, best forgo the sour cream. Nothing wrong with it, in fact it's the best sour cream in Kunming, but if you've eaten Chinese for month or months with no dairy intake, your system will react to sour cream or probably any liquid dairy product not so well. Maybe that's what happened with nailer and tallamerican.

Update:

It's now 5 working days for regular processing. So I submitted my application a bit before 5pm on a Friday and was told to pick it up next week Friday after 5pm.

Cost is now 400rmb for a single 30 day entry. Or that was what I was charged anyways. There are no posted prices and its cash only with no receipt except for your passport pickup. That's like $65 USD.

You can pay another 150rmb for 2 day or 100rmb for 3 day processing. For 400rmb, they should process it in three days like they used to before, but now you'd pay 500rmb. The office is still like deserted most of the time, so why does it take longer now and cost extra. If you opted for 2 day, thats like $90 usd. All other neighboring countries charge like $25usd.

The rest of and cope review is still good for hours and location.

Far out, less people. Big enough to get lost in. Pretty and quiet near dusk. 20yuan entrance fee.

Like everyone else says, best Indian food in Kunming. They have lunch plates and dinner plates. Show up before 1pm for lunch.

They are on the 4th floor of the half empty shopping mall. Best way is too take the elevator past the KFC around the corner from Starbucks.

Most individual dishes can feed only two hungry guys, so order more if you are starving. Naan order can take care of one only.

Five stars for the food. Go with Yereth's recommendations, plus any vegetable the waitress says is fresh.

Beware that Xue Fu lu is one way, so many taxis have to take a roundabout way to get here.
