I would kill for a taro pie in any mainland USA MickeyD (Hawaii got them 4sale). Apple pie is so 1900's. That being said, I would buy apple pies here, since I can't get them. Crave what you can't have.

Since you deleted my prior post, I assume GoK censorship found something unamusing about it.

I'll rephrase it in a bland vanilla way; Update the photo gallery.

And another note, since you did delete my prior post without any form of acknowledgement, I think GoK should at least insert "a deleted by admin" when they do delete forum posts. Otherwise, GoK can revise a thread to however they feel it should read, without anyone knowing it had been touched. Maybe this thread already has many more deletions, how would we know?

I need to make a visa run in mid July, so will have an excuse to travel some. However, lots of places are going to be hot and humid.

I'd like a list of spots in China or nearby countries that would be dry and temperate, like the summer Kunming will have. If possible, the weather is not cool thanks to the start of the rainy season.

I personally know that JiuZhaiGou in Sichuan would qualify, but I've been there.

Burger King China makes a fantastic whopper. Unlike the USA, where it's soggy, droopy, and bland, the BK China makes a whopper that resembles the picture and tastes crisp and solid.

Kunming doesn't have even have a BK. It's sad.

Side note: Wicker Basket has some amazing onion rings as part of their buffet.

Uh, how do they know there aren't populations of this or other bats in guizhou, guangxi, guangdong, or hunan that harbor a bat precursor of the human sars virus? Plenty of caves and bats in all of those other provinces. Also, 1% uncertainty is a total failure to explain the transmission mechanism of sars from Yunnan bats to humans? That's a very generous 1%.

Too late for Angkor. Already consumed. Siem Riep never had much character before all the 5 stars showed up, so an even greater influx won't ruin the town. Of course, if a new airport means low cost carriers can fly there too, I'm all for it, after all, I just want a cheap seat!

Never gotten sick once at Sals. Their food is TexMex, so yeah, not authentic Mexican food, but pretty authentic as TexMex goes. Burrito wrap has improved a lot. Like the draft beer option now.

If you haven't had dairy products in a while, and do eat here, best forgo the sour cream. Nothing wrong with it, in fact it's the best sour cream in Kunming, but if you've eaten Chinese for month or months with no dairy intake, your system will react to sour cream or probably any liquid dairy product not so well. Maybe that's what happened with nailer and tallamerican.



Update:

It's now 5 working days for regular processing. So I submitted my application a bit before 5pm on a Friday and was told to pick it up next week Friday after 5pm.

Cost is now 400rmb for a single 30 day entry. Or that was what I was charged anyways. There are no posted prices and its cash only with no receipt except for your passport pickup. That's like $65 USD.

You can pay another 150rmb for 2 day or 100rmb for 3 day processing. For 400rmb, they should process it in three days like they used to before, but now you'd pay 500rmb. The office is still like deserted most of the time, so why does it take longer now and cost extra. If you opted for 2 day, thats like $90 usd. All other neighboring countries charge like $25usd.

The rest of and cope review is still good for hours and location.



Like everyone else says, best Indian food in Kunming. They have lunch plates and dinner plates. Show up before 1pm for lunch.

They are on the 4th floor of the half empty shopping mall. Best way is too take the elevator past the KFC around the corner from Starbucks.

Most individual dishes can feed only two hungry guys, so order more if you are starving. Naan order can take care of one only.



Five stars for the food. Go with Yereth's recommendations, plus any vegetable the waitress says is fresh.

Beware that Xue Fu lu is one way, so many taxis have to take a roundabout way to get here.
