To be honest, learning foreign languages is painful for a lot of people. That doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Best, and least painful, and most rewarding and even exciting and fun, is to be surrounded by a society of people who use it daily, and then you learn that there are other ways to see the world - none of which are perfect.

Now, on some thread somewhere some people took me as somehow trying to be controlling when I said that the goal of seeking consensus was a good one. Now you're objecting to divisiveness. Let me say that the arguments directed towards establishing a hopeful consensus are not to be stomped on - division and dispute and rational discussion are important until an honest, real consensus can be established, one that people actually believe in; and that's not done by telling people to shut up and go follow Trump in the name of 'bringing (American) people together' - the usual bullshit US political phrase - or 'America first', or whatever other phrase is broadcast as if it were news.
We'll be together when we get together, not by caving in to obvious chauvanism and appeal to racism and fear of foreigners and religious bigotry and justification of obscene differences of wealth, etc. - and other things - and not before - and it's not just about Americans, either, flag-waving or otherwise.
In short, if you can't say anything reasonable, why the hell would you want anybody to agree with you?

Not quite what you'd call a jumping place, but not bad at all for rather standard US-type meals, not overly expensive, and with a really good salad bar that's cheap, or free with most dinner dishes after 5:30PM. You can get a bottle of beer or even wine if you really want to, but I've never seen anybody do it - maybe that's just to take out. Chinese Christian run, and they hire people with physical disadvantages, who are pleasant and helpful. Frequented by foreign (mostly North American) Christians and Chinese Christians - was started by a Canadian couple associated with Bless China (previously, Project Grace), who are no longer here, but no religious pressure or any of that. Steaks are nothing special, and I avoid the Korean dishes, which I've had a few times but which did not impress me.
As a shop and bakery, it's very good bread at reasonable prices, of various kinds (Y18 for a good multigrain loaf that certainly weighs well over a pound. Other stuff too, like granola and oatmeal that is local, as well as imported things, including American cornflakes and so forth, which some people seem to require.
Large portions, seriously so with the pizza, which is Brooklyn/American style, I guess. Convivial, conversational, good place to drink with good folks on both sides of the bar, especially after about 9PM.
