Thank you.
Thank you.
Where is culture lane located in Kunming?
If any cycling group wants to get a ride out to the trails by jeep and then back to the city center after your ride.
We can also rendezvous at another location lower on the mountain trails..
I also have 5 watt radios for good comunication besides mobile phones.
I know lots of areas that would amaze you..some roads some single track, but all away from the trucks and noise of the city..
If you are concerned for safety " mian bao che" bread vans are not safe and would not come close to passing international safety tests.
Although they are still safer than being on the road with e bikes.
That said..
New bread vans are from 30 000rmb
Should be able to get one of those for 8000 to 12000, if you just stay in town and no major highway driving you might be able to get one as cheap as 5000,although it wont be clean!!
I helped 2 guys get one for a trip to lijiang and back and resell it. They bought it for 11 000 .
Havent looked at the big vans so the price is unknown, should be able to get something cheap although they are sought after for delivery companies ect..you cant drive a pick up inside the 2nd ring road during the day but a van is ok...
Also nice little cars/mini SUV for 40 000, year 2004..
Got to look out for theives at those markets, liars and cheaters.
I've seen a SUV with the oil on the dip stick metalic sparkle..."mei wen ti"..he said..."hen how che".. yeah right!!
No results found.
Overall good selection for creating basic "heavy / thick / bulky" furniture.
Clean, quiet, everything I needed, good location, well priced.
Went the other night, it was very late therefore I cant coment on the food but it did smell very good..
Cozy atmosphere and very friendly host.
Will return again now that it's found!
Icing on the cake for Kunming as a concept!
Forest fire menacing outskirts of Kunming
发布者Wen Tao:
Are you referring to the eucalyptus with brown / dead leaves?
The cold ice snap we had this winter is what killed off these trees, they usually do quite well in the driest parts of yunnan.
I agree on the fire hazard from eucalyptus, must i say dead or alive.. although i cant see them planting another species because the main reason they plant them is for paper production. In southern Yunnan they clearcut the old growth forest to plant eucalyptus.

发布者We are down here in Jinggu for the same festival and Paragliding, hot at 34oC..
Exploring central Yunnan's Xinping County
发布者The Yangtze river used to flow southwards (from Lijiang) into the valley of the Red river prior of the uplifting of the Yunnan plateau. A theory which is researched / studied.
Government looking to step up supervision of Erhai
发布者Established residences and hotels need to have sewage holding tanks which could be pumped / sucked out via trucks with pumps. It's an existing technology which is another economic boost for local small business growth.. I dont mind if the cost of hotels in the dali area would go up if it really meant the sewage would be dumped in a proper treatment pond somewhere outside the Erhai catchment basin.
The same needs to be done with Fu Xian Lake..
In my opinion, Fu Xian lake is much more important. The lake is fed by huge underground rivers flowing from the north of Yunnan and the Tibet plateau, quite unique on this planet for it's sheer size.
Fu Xian is an impressive jewel of crystal clear water which needs to be protected from corruption and greed.
Government looking to step up supervision of Erhai
发布者Licensing boat traffic may be a minor part of the lake's water quality but it has to be the most corrupt sector of ErHai's management officials.
Er Hai's management forbids all boat traffic except the huge cruise ships, obviously a bribe from the later's owners to corner the tourist market.
This has a considerable negative effect of Erhai's tourism growth.
Local residents and fishermen loose out on income while the rich and the connected get richer.
Mao must be turning in his grave to see all this corruption.
