Forums > Living in Kunming > english language teacher

Dudeson, you have explained yourself several times but there are still some people who do not get it. I understand and agree with you in what you have explained but seems a few people still dont get it. No fault of your own at all here. They wont get it even if you wrote it with a crayon.

A company has a permit to hire a foreign janitor but they give that visa to a foreign teacher instead. The person who is hired is none the wiser because he got a work visa but he does not know that he is working illegally because he was dupped by that company.

I think there will come a time when only a person with a Foreign Expert Certificate (FEC) will be able to teach english.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Two foreign English teachers deported in north Chi

Good article as it deals with topic at hand. Once again, it has nothing to do with being a good or bad teacher or the resume (CV) of the teacher.

If there was a way to get the total number of Quotas (Legal) allowed in Kunming and compare it with the actual number of foreigners teaching (Illegal) I am sure many people will be surprised at the results of this ratio.

GK has become more popular and well known so this is a reason why there are many advertisements of people looking for jobs here. However, this also is related to the huge number of people coming to China.

It is almost every day that I see a new ad of someone looking for work, any work.

A good reason to look at the push/pull factors of immigration.

Dazzer, in the years that both of us have used this forum, I have NEVER posted a comment to you - either directly or indirectly. I have on many occassions retaliated at you for the comments you direct to me first. Simple Cause and Effect.

I understand if Tiger is offended in some way because my post related to his comment of paying 17K/month for rent. However, my post does not violate GK rules because I am not making a personal attack at him like calling him dumbass which you are so famous for. A fool and his money are soon parted is a well known expression and it is appropriate in this case.

However, I fail to understand how any of this relates to you other than your simple hatred for a stranger you dislike but never met and your need to come to the rescue of others, who did not ask for your help.

Take your last comment for example - hey tiger ignore the dumbass we knew what you meant. Who is WE? We knew what you meant. Now you have ventured in the area of Mind Reading since you KNOW what others are thinking.

I am sure 100% of the members of this forum will agree with me that there is a huge difference between paying 17 K rent yourself or if someone else pays for it. I am sure many others will happily accept to live in a Villa if someone else is paying but they certainly will not pay for it themselves. I am also 100% certain that other forum members also understood tigers comment to mean that HE paid 17K, not an employer or anyone else - not until he clarified his statement in another post in reaction to my comment.

This thread is about renting a house vs an apartment. All my replies relate to this topic where your reply is about and toward HUGO.

Side Note: Not that I agree or understand Chinese thinking but when Chinese people see other chinese spend money and show off their conspicuous consumption they are NOT offended. But if they see a foreigner do the exact same thing then they bad mouth him.

I will turn 52 in a couple of months and in my book that is old. I am certain that you are much older than me so I suggest you begin to act your age and MYOB.

The video is very informative but does NOT specifically tell you where these locations are located. The entrance ticket to SHI LIN (Stone Forest) is 175 Yuan. I prefer to buy an annual ticket for 200 Yuan and I can use it at any time during the year. Bring your passport and you can purchase an annual ticket which includes entrance to the MAJOR stone Forest, MINOR stone Forest, BU SHAO SHAN, LI ZI YUAN QING, WAN NIAN LING ZHI, and NAIGU stone Forest (Black Stone Forest).

Most of the footage on the video is of the Black Stone Forest. Few people know about it so each time I go, there are very few visitors, less than 5 people. This location has been completely renovated but it lacks many basics. However, There is NOWHERE to purchase any food or water anywhere in the entire park.

Another location seen in the Video is DA DIE SHUI Waterfall. This USED TO BE included in the price of the entrance ticket more than 1 year ago but it no longer is considered part of the Stone Forest. Presently, the waterfall scenic area is under renovation. The Waterfall is located more then 30 km away from the main park. 2 years ago, you can purchase tickets for the waterfall ONLY for 18 Yuan but I have no idea what the price will be after the renovation is complete.

Good luck

I ASSUME that the writers and staff of GOKUNMING write these articles in an effort to inform the reader of an event or location of some significance in and around Kunming.

I find many of these articles lacking in vital information. In an attempt to be CREATIVE, the writers fail in being INFORMATIVE.

For example, the writers mentions Jiexiao Xiang many, many times but fails to tell the reader where this place is. Is it somewhere in Yunnan? Is it in Kunming? There are 5 districts in Kunming - is it in Pan long District? Or is it in one of the other 4 districts? Is there a major crossroad where this small alley can be found. Perhaps near Beijing Road or Guangfu Road.

I enjoy travelling and seeing new places and I research many of the places I visit. But I really would like to read an article here and NOT be left with MORE questions than when I started.

I ask the staff of GOKunming to please be more specific when writing about places to visit and give SPECIFIC directions such as name of town or village and county and prefecture when writing. Thank you.

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
