I saw the exit that leads to Shan Gri La on the new highway to Lijiang off the Bai Han Chang Exit.

Does anyone know if there is a new highway directly to Shan Gri La yet?

Yun Xian is located 225 km (5 hours) south of Xia Guan, Dali. Yunxian is a very small town that serves as a crossroad to Dali, Baoshan and Lincang. Yunxian is 34 km (1 hour) east of Feng Qing.

Stone Cave (Shi Dong) Temple is located on the road between Yun Xian and Feng Qing. A large stone marks the entrance to the 15 km cobblestone road that will take you to the temple. Admission is free but you will need a motorcycle to drive you to the temple for 60 yuan round trip.

Feng Qing is located 34 km (1 hour) west of Yunxian.

Lu Shi Old Town is located 82 km (3 hours) north of Feng Qing via a good mountain road. Lu Shi was established in 1598 and was an important outpost of the Tea Horse Road. The Qing Long Bridge (Blue Dragon Bridge) was destroyed in 2010 and it has NOT been renovated.

Too late. Went to Shaxi and they already have 8-12 cafe/coffee shops just like Lijiang Old Town. Now they are charging 20 Yuan to go inside the Xing Jiao Temple. I do not think it is worth 20 Yuan. Just trying to get revenue for more renovation projects.

There is only one bus each day to and from Jian Chuan to Shaxi. You can take a minivan with 6 other people or you can rent a taxi that will charge 120 Yuan for round trip.

There are no buses to Shi Bao Shan. You can rent a taxi for 200 Yuan and he will drive you to the 3 temples and bring you back to Jian Chuan. Takes about 3-4 hours for the entire trip depending on your walking speed.

You can rent a taxi from Jianchuan for 200 Yuan. The taxi will take you to all 3 temples and bring you back to Jianchuan.

You can also do the entire loop for 250 Yuan. Jianchuan to Shi Bao Shan then on to Shaxi and then back to Jianchuan.

I recommend you stay an extra day and climb 1000 Lion Mountain. I really like this place.

I went to the train station a few days ago and noticed that the security check is now on the street in front of the Big Bull Statue. I can finally take a picture of the bull without all the people standing around it.

I have seen many changes over the last 10 years here in Kunming. Although smoking still has a long way to go, it is much improved than it was in the past.

Most taxis are now 100% smoke free. Street buses are 100% smoke free now. Long distance buses are also 100% smoke free. The only problem still seems to be the small buses that go to the villages.

My wife just translated this article for me. This is our little critter as it mentions our residential quarter. Glad to see he has a few more days of life in the wilderness before someone else recaptures him.

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
