Forums > Living in Kunming > Historical + Cultural Sites in Kunming I forgot to mention. Something I found very peculiar were the pyramids with a capstone located inside the park. There were at least 4 that I recall. I found them to be out of place since all the other signs used to display fossils were made concrete and resembled stones. Like the trash cans that are made of concrete and resemble a tree trunk. These seemed very appropriate to me because this is a fossil site but the pyramids had no business being in this park. I wonder how many more pyramids can be found in other UNESCO sites? I will look for some pyramids the next time I go to Lijiang which is another UNESCO site.
The title of this article also seems a bit disturbing.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Kunming taxis Thanks, I know very well the gang mentality used for revenge in China and I am aware of the many risks associated with this cause I have taken on. I realize all this will one day come to an end; either I accomplish what I set out to do or I encounter so many obstacles that nothing will change or like you stated I get myself injured or killed. Thus far I have not run into any of these insurmountable obstacles and I pray that I do not. My hope is that more people will join this cause so that I am no longer the lone activists and others will be in the spotlight instead of just me. Thanks again.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Kunming taxis Going to the media is a last resort which I am already prepared to do after I get all the documents that self-incrimminate the Taxi Bureau. There is a specific channel that handles this type of reporting and it is in the works. Many people read the posts on this website although very few make comments. Websites such as GK, word of mouth and spreading the knowledge is the best way to effect positive change. It is up to all of us who use the services of taxis to fight for our rights since the law is on our side. We just need to take the time to make the report and follow through.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Kunming taxis Straight from the horses mouth. My wife just called the complaint hotline to ask the specific question about taxis going to the new airport, specifically, during the early morning and late evening. The staff said, regardless of where you go, the driver must use the meter. Regardless of the time, he must use the meter. Then she asked - what if the driver says because it is late and I have no return fare I must charge you more. The staff clearly said the following. Get in the taxi and agree to whatever he says. When you reach the airport, stay in the car and call us from the car and give us the details such as origin, destination, license number and so on. Now you heard it boys and girls - this is the way to make the report because he must be caught red handed in the illegal conduct.
Kunming opens province's first 'baby refuge'
发布者Thanks, I have a student who was abandoned and later adopted. I have spoken with the parents at length and they agreed to let the teenage girl visit this site. She has many questions about her past and this is just one step in helping her find her roots/identity and also knowing she is not alone.
