Thanks! Should be a lot of participation. The previous half marathon was quite the success. Nice to see so many runners.

Breaking news. Apple removes VPN Apps from China App Store.
Apple is siding with profits over ______. China is one of their biggest markets after all. AAPL stocks would tank if they disobeyed calls to censorship.
Looks like the Great Firewall is being refortified. The war on VPNs has begun.
Right now trending on Chinese social media in Kunming circles, locals are angry with the drowning of mother and child. They are angry that the civilized project has cost tax payers RMB 30 Billion yet their government can't even prevent streets from flooding because of subpar infrastructure.
If we want to be honest with each other. The "civilized" money could be better spent on drainage/sewage revamp. Kunming has been flooding for decades... and certainly susceptible to more flooding in the future.
Supposedly 北区 Northern Kunming has been flooded to the windshields of cars, as well as many parking basements in the city... today or tomorrow would be a disaster for the anticipated Beijing inspections.

Government bans swimming at tourist-friendly Fuxian Lake
发布者Protecting the ecology of the lake is important, but protecting incompetent swimmers is just as vital.
The proficiency (lack of) of Yunnan swimmers is troubling, to speak nothing of other provinces. Too many undocumented drowning incidences of dragging ashore loved ones without a pulse, rarely reach pulse of nation. Drowning occurrences are particularly pronounced among beach-goers amidst China's travel boom across SE Asia & beyond.
Mandatory swimming courses & tests need to be implemented by the education ministry as a high-school graduation requirement. Greater budget allocation for swimming facilities would be helpful in that regards.
Much ado about...littering at Lugu Lake

Stone Age graveyard discovered in Yunnan's Chuxiong Prefecture
发布者It's possible Neolithic period, which began 10,000BC and ending as late as 2,000BC in this part of the world, could overlap with the Bronze age (3,000 - 1,200BC)?

The evolution of Chinese National Day in Kunming
发布者One more thing...
If you look closely at my first picture link, the temporary housing and storage facilities are actually where the previous public spaces of Dongfeng Plaza were located.
Once the Eye of Spring towers are built to its South, that open space will return in full glory. Locals and visitors alike will dance again in "friendly & funky" hand-holding circles to traditional Yunnan folk songs.
I believe President Xi embraces the symbiotic evolution of the old and new.
