@Geezer I to got my previous (xmas) Turkeys in Wicker basket, they're always good for this part of the year.
Maybe California's China town accounts to our expat bars ;o)
@Alien I know what it is, it's basic history, just saying it's not a big thing to the rest of us. If it was political rather than the cultural traditions and family based thing it is I doubt celebrations would be too big.
@Dazzer I already see and hear Xmas stuff in places but I never hear anything regarding Thanksgiving. Wouldn't know it was coming up unless Americans started talking about it or 'Chinese' expat bars promoted a dinner.
Not quite the big thing Americans have ingrained in them back home once you leave the USA.
@Vicar If they want to play the part I'm sure the food will go down just as well ;o)
Why does China need to worry about Thanksgiving day? I doubt they have too many spring festival dinners abroad either but the Chinese there will probably be doing it between themselves.
Grab any Americans you can, agree to do a part each, meet at someone's place and I'll guarantee you'll end up with something more akin to what you want. Come Xmas dinner, I'll be making sure it's home made rather than eating out, it's just not the same eating that sort of food at a restaurant is it? Becomes just any part of the year roast dinner (still great) which we all like but takes away the feel :o)
The machines around my xiao qu seem to only fill up bottles about half the size that the delivery guy brings. Plays some music while waiting as well, so an added bonus.
If you're looking to save a couple of kuai then yeah get all on it, they're surely as safe as the delivery guys stuff and plenty of people seem to use them here (not me). Is a kuai or 2 worth the effort or the helping to slowly take away another source of income for the unskilled in China though?.
@geogramatt I've noticed they like to start as early as nursery (like my sons class) in some places now so that's got to be an improvement in thinking. I remember back in the day as a 5 year old starting swimming lessons in the UK. We never had our own school pool but would be taken to the local swimming pool on lesson days.
Maybe but the area is already known for it as the article says :
"Yuanmou County is already the celebrated home of the eponymously named Yuanmo Man — a distant ancestor of modern humans discovered in 1965. The prefecture also claims Yunnan's one and only Dinosaur Valley (恐龙谷)"
Been here several times lately and every time I've enjoyed my meal. Don't know why some others have said it was pricey, the price has always seemed fair to me :)

Interesting article just today on how museums are able to now spot fakes a lot more convincingly. Surely reading this you'd have to say 'ok dinosaurs
