"It might be worth mentioning that for British citizens, you can't get a British visa for your Chinese passport if you also hold a British passport. Seems like US is different."
It's a bit more complicated and there's an easy way around it. Friend of mine is British. Currently daughter only has Chinese passport but when she was born he also got a birth certificate through the British consulate meaning you can claim citizenship in future. Due to this they wouldn't issue the daughter a UK visa. What she did get issued in her Chinese passport is a 5-year "right to abode" for the UK. With this she can come and go as she pleases to the UK. They didn't get her a British passport yet due to the difficulties of holding two passports.
Great write-up. I'd only politely disagree with one point.
"- Travel: The receipt you are issued can be used for travel purposes along with a copy of your passport and previous RP. You will be without a passport while the PSB is waiting to issue you a new RP."
You only need the official receipt, chopped of course! Never had a problem traveling inside China (train and plane) or checking into hotels with it in September 2016 and September 2015.
Just before and during G20 in Hangzhou last year I took the train from Guangzhou to Shanghai. Extra high security before boarding as the train stops in Hangzhou. My friend had two cans of deodorant confiscated, he wasn't happy. Security lady found my Swiss Army knife, which I expected to have confiscated. She dug under her table for a roll of parcel tape, wrapped my knife up in it and gave it back to me! Strange way of dealing with it but I wasn't complaining
"Kunming was more recently thought to be in the hunt for a new Chinese Super League franchise. Rumors were rampant that European coaching legend Sven-Göran Eriksson was considered a front-runner to run the team, but nothing ever came from such efforts."
Sven is past it! He's done nothing in his time in China at GZ Fuli, SIPG or Shenzhen.
@Janjal, good point about 15 years old & marriage. What about these (combined) points:
"while the other two are working in another city. Their parents have promised the two children will return to school next semester."
"A kid working in the city can bring back 20,000 yuan [US$3,000] a year," an official at a county-level education bureau in Yunnan told local media in 2014"
So local officials are condoning children working illegally underage? First quote is more valid as it refers directly to this case! They know two of the kids are working illegally & havent dome anything about it except get "promises" from the parents that they'll send them back to school "next semester"!
"However, business owners such as Mr Zhao, who spent six million yuan (US$870,000) to open a guesthouse, worries about his livelihood and those of his employees. He blames government inaction and "hasty decisions" for the entire situation, saying:"
Well maybe if he'd built his guesthouse properly with connections to sewage, etc he wouldn't be in this position now...

发布者I also agree Alien. Governments the world over seem to know what's best for people rather than asking them what they want.
