Let me know what you find. I live a block from Rite Aid, so it's easy to go grab if they have it. There are 2 other major chains within a half mile of me too.

We always bring pepto bismol tablets from home as I've never seen them in Asia, but kids can't have those anyway. For my toddler, we're bringing benadryl melts, plus liquid ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I'm sure those will be available there, but for the small amount of packing space they take, at least we know for sure what's in the package.

What's with all the jobs ads stating that you must already be in Kunming? I can understand wanting to interview someone in person, but don't Z visas require you to apply from outside the country? Is this a red flag that it's not a legal job? I'd love a part-time job as I'm coming with my toddler and would like to take Chinese classes myself, but don't want to work for a school illegally.

BillDan, we experienced the same thing entertaining my husband's Chinese colleagues in the US. We selected some great restaurants, only to discover limitations like "no curry" from one member of the party, and ended up eating at a Japanese place (owned by Chinese) and the relatively authentic and expensive Sichuan place 3x. They were not especially fond of the Jewish Deli.

We went today and really enjoyed it! It was not terribly child-friendly, but we're huge nerds and read everything so our kid got bored. If the fossil exhibit opens soon, I'll be sure to take her back.
