There used to be a tailor on Dong Feng Lu, near the movie theater and the intersection with Wen Lin Jie, a bit up-hill from the hospital. He worked out of a traditional style house. He made a lot of suits for foreign students at Yunnan U. Last time I looked, his old style house was gone. Has he moved to some place near by? Far away? Or is he retired? Or what? I want to get some pants and shirts made.

Thanks.

Is there an up-to-date map (on line or on paper) of Kunming's bus routes? I need to know how to find the new long distance bus stations. I will be living near Xiaoximen but I need to know how to reach the new West and South long distance bus stations, in particular.

Any way to find out which city busses service these new bus stations? How do I get from Xiaoximen to the new West bus station or the new South bus station? None of them seem to be any place convenient to bus riders.

I'm returning to KM after a few months away. Friends tell me that the bus stations near the south train station, BJ road, have disappeared, replaced by a new bus station in far off Chenggong. True?

I find it hard to believe that one must go all the way to Chenggong for a cheap bus to Yuxi, for example. What about the West Bus Station, near the Art College, or the New South Bus Station, next to the new second hand market in Fu De? Can one leave, say, the Cloud Land Hostel for Jing Hong without a long expensive detour to Chenggong?

Thanks.

Psycho, I'm semi-joking, semi-serious. If Salon.com is to be believed, oral/anal are becoming more common in US high schools, thanks to the Bushies "abstinence" education policies. As for early marriages, surely everyone knows that Chinese people married very early before 1949? Some places, parent arranged marriages between infants, and then raised them together. Some still do. For that matter, most people everywhere before modern times married quite young, by modern US standards.

The truth is, once into puberty, it's unnatural for people not to be having sex regularly. If you want to counter or modify Nature, fine, but you need to do so more rationally than say "don't do it! don't do it!" Teach'em to use condoms. Think of it as the lesser of evils, like the Just War. (Born-agains in the USA are rarely squeamish about war, only sex).

Catch bus #9 at Xiao Cai Yuan (the cloverleaf north of Yun Da) and it will terminate at Hei Long Tan. Alternatively, catch bus #84 going north, from in front of the Normal University. Ride it to Shang Zhuang bus stop, then cross the road and catch bus #79 going north. Bus #79 terminates at Nong Da, but it will stop at Hei Long Tan (the Horticultural Garden, too).

Of course, you can mix and match: catch #84 from its beginning in the Pedestrian Mall down town, then switch to #9 at the Xiao Cai Yuan stop.

I'm told that there is a good vegetarian restaurant at Hei Long Tan as well.

I like the cages. They make handy places to put things out to dry. Buy fresh walnuts, put them out in a basket in the cage and they dry quick. Anywhere else, slow.

I've stayed here many times over the years and been very satisfied. Central location, comfortable rooms, reasonable prices. Some might mind the noise from the Bad Monkey Bar across the street, but I've always been able to sleep. The staff is very helpful with bus tickets, excursion tickets and the like.

Does anyone know if this is still a going concern? Or destroyed by the fire?

One of my favorite places in Jing Hong! It's my landmark, the center of the hotel, restaurant, bike, etc., area. I discovered dark Beer Lao there!
