Funny thing was at first I could see all the files and folders, but couldn't open the folders, just some documents. After, it wouldn't even open. I am not giving up so easily. I will call and get the address. There is some very valuable stuff on it...at least to me.
Wow....Well just to update you, I plugged in both HD's and the dropped one is now unreadable. So I'll try again tomorrow and then if nothing works, then I will get my friend to call the girl that abcdabcd recommended and go and see her on Monday. Sincere thanks.
Wow, you are all so great and so helpful. I guess you have faced this problem before. Once when I lived in Beijing, the usb plug pushed into the cover and they just took the old cover off and put the guts into a different case. I've had this HD for a long time. First time I dropped it though.

1) The files are very important to me.
2) where on Yi Er Yi Dajie is the place? Is that the phone number of the girl's place?
3) I have another 1T WD external HD that I was using to back up my computer, which if I can get the documents of the dropped HD, then that's the place I could store them. Can this be done by someone?
4) I'm wondering if I could do that myself, since I can see the files, just can't open many of them? Could that damage the already problematic WD HD? Do I need to have a lot of storage space on my computer to do it?
Recently I dropped my Western Digital external hard drive. Now it is not behaving properly, ie., not saving docs and not always opening, etc. Is there any reliable source here to fix this problem in Kunming...?

Yes, it's a hassle for me to go a long way, but the hassle is worth it. The range of foreign products far surpasses any other supermarket/big box store/or whatever you want to call them. And in comparision to the first time I shopped there 2 years ago, I feel the whole store has improved.
If you compare the variety and the store brand products to the drivvel at the other big supermarkets, there is absolutely no comparison.
My list of real foreign quality products is endless and includes:
- beautiful fresh salmon
- tacos
- lovely baked goods
- fine quality white sugar
- flour - all purpose and for bread
- spices
- a huge variety of spices
- olives
- all the pasta making seasonings and sauces you could want
- frozen puff pastry
- a fantastic selection of dairy products inc. Cream Cheese, Mozzarella, Cottage Cheese, Cheddars, Brie and Camembert, whipping cream - all priced fairly and not overpriced.
- popping corn without the bugs
- the Horeca brand of everything is superb, including olive oil, dish soap, at competitive prices
- etc, etc, etc
Face it, we are in no man's land here in KM so a little bit of inconvenience for all these great products is a god-send.
