Forums > Living in Kunming > Civilized Kunming @l4dybug: China and Indonesia are the top sources of plastic bottles, bags and other rubbish clogging up global sea lanes. Together, both nations account for more than a third of plastic detritus in global waters.
In 2010, 8.8 million metric tons of mismanaged plastic waste came from China with an estimated 3.53 million metric tons of it ending up in the ocean. A total of 3.2 million metric tons of mismanaged plastic waste came from Indonesia and it is estimated that 1.29 million metric tons became plastic marine debris. The United States is also guilty of polluting oceans with plastic, but at a much lower level than China. Annually, 0.11 million metric tons of waterborne plastic garbage comes from the United States.

Forums > Living in Kunming > GoKunming feedback... @Ishmael:
I have been seeing almost exactly what
you have been experiencing and I am in Southern California. The network trouble shooter/finder consistently indicate the problem is with gokuming's website. Closing the browser tab for a while seems to get it to work again but It has happened several times in the last few days.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Carrefour Giving Up On China "Carrefour is selling an 80% stake in its China business, including more than 200 stores, to Nanjing-based retailer Suning.com Co. for about $700 million. The French company, once a dominant force in many Chinese cities, saw its sales in the market fall 5.9% to €4.1 billion ($4.67 billion) last year."

It just seems to me that there is a bit of hypocrisy in playing hall monitor and trying to regulate the behavior of others whilst be guilty of the same major infraction. But then if one finds the need to comment or question everyone else's errant posts by assuming some sort of authority, I guess that would remain one of those slightly humorous behaviors that must endure in life.

Kunming to put 45,000 public use bikes on roads
发布者Exactly! What would you say the likelihood of getting the deposit back?
Buy x number of bikes, collect deposit from 4x riders, leave town with 30 million yuan.
Kunming to put 45,000 public use bikes on roads
发布者@ tigertiger Clearly not owning the bike lessens the concern for its condition once one is done with it. As you have pointed out all of these bikes have been paid for. Seems reasonable the business recoups the cost of the bike and the user can dump it with the only worry about finding another, somewhere.
The perfect meld of capitalism and communal ownership.
