Forums > Living in Kunming > What the #*%$s wrong with the internet? 4 days and no con to Baidu. Does anyone know if it's been shut down or something? I heard some American companies sued them last week. I can't belive it's my con or computer there is something wrong with, since it's the only one of my regular sites I can't access. Anyone?
Forums > Living in Kunming > What the #*%$s wrong with the internet? My connection is utterly useless today. I haven't even been able to open Baidu for the last 15 minutes.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Jobs in Kunming for foreigners Gaoxing eh? How about a career in clapping? As a professional Clapper you'd be responsible for drawing pedestrians' attention to cheapish shops -mainly clothes and shoes. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to really get in touch with your inner annoying child, get plenty of fresh air and exercise your hand and arm muscles at the same time. As an added bonus you can shout and complain all you want while yelling at random people in English, since they won't be able to understand you anyway. What's not to like?
Forums > Living in Kunming > Cars don't need to stop at this intersection? I went to a policestation right next to one of those T-intersections Tigertiger talks about yesterday. I was furious that the cars didn't at least slow down for pedestrians crossing for green, and mentioned this to the police officers. They said flat out that it's legal for cars to drive through the red light in these cases. When I mentioned that the Chinese traffic laws require cars to slow down and stop at a zebra crossing they gave me the "Mjeh, what to do?!" look.
I absolutely agree with RayinKM: When spending time in Chinese traffic you should assume that everyone else is a selfish, inconsiderate bastard with no clue about the laws, safety and curteous driving.

Kunming to host 2009 China Open minigolf tournament
发布者"The 2009 China Open tournament will feature top minigolfers from more than 20 countries",, wow. Are they gonna sign autographs after the matches? I've always been a big fan of totally unknown people's autographs. I am a regular stalker at curling and bowls tourneys all over the world. How about a game of Surf Lifesaving: Combining the grace and beauty of watersports with the thrill of cardiac arrest since 1998.
That said the course does look rather mesmerizing,, I might give it a go at some point but I'm not gonna call myself an athlete for doing so.

Kunming Carnival to celebrate girls, beer, cars

Kunming-based project aims to make cycling history
发布者I don't usually complain excessively,, I think I even made a 10 Great things about Kunming post somewhere. I agree though,, I was off topic. This site could use a little debate on the other hand so I don't mind playing the devil's advocate. Dan,, how did you know that I hate spinach? spooky.
Kunming-based project aims to make cycling history
发布者You do realize you are actually trying to defend the (of all things) traffic in this fine city? what exactly are "the ideas within"? anyway,, not really looking for a fight. I was just pissed off coz I nearly got flattened yet again today while using a zebra crossing at green light. And don't get me wrong,, I like this place but that shouldn't disqualify me from occasionally being annoyed with potentially life threatening situations. It almost felt like a "You are not Chinese so you don't have the right to say anything"-moment for a second there. :-)
