Of course today employers want degree-holders. My mini-rant is just, as my wife actually has a Teaching quailifcation as well as TESOL, that schools employ teachers with any old degree not related to teaching at all. If I want someone to build me a dam, I'd want someone with an engineering degree not a psychology degree. If I was to have surgery, I'd want a doctor with a medical degree and not a literature degree! Why then if I want to employ a teacher would I want someone with a computer science degree? And how does that make them an Expert?
Why does someone have to be an expert to teach English?
Some people have teaching ability without a degree don't they? Perhaps more so than some people with a degree not related to teaching anyway. A graduate in Engineering or Accounting might be good in those respective fields, but how is that related to whether or not they can teach?
Comparing how guns kill people to how cars kill people? Are cars designed to kill? Guns are designed to do nothing but to kill.
Because the USA was founded by armed revolution (single shot muskets weren't they?), so its citizens need to be armed to prepare for another armed revolution? To overthrow the government which is based upon the constitution that allows for this arming of civilians? And this is the reason why the Batman maniac could buy a semi-automatic with the 100 bullet clip? At least his freedoms weren't infringed.
It was a good event again this year, but due to the crowding, it becomes a less and less suitable venue every year, which sadly detracts from the whole thing. In future please rent a larger venue for it, and the fair will be even more enjoyable.
My experience at the new airport was that it certainly looks impressive, but some of the services still need more time before they could be considered adequate. I'd been looking forward to the wifi there - anyone know how long till it will be operating? Information desk staff had inadequate English - and even in Chinese I got incorrect information in response to the simple (but important!) question of where Starbucks was.
Hope they can quickly get things running smoothly.
