Forums > Living in Kunming > Too cheap or what?

There is a native speaking teacher advertising his services on here for 80 rmb/hr. Or groups of up to 4 for 100 (i.e. 25 each).

Is it just me or is this way to low. It does kinda make it hard for the rest of us to earn a living when people are being soft.

I am charging almost double this for individuals. Out of interest, what are you other guys charging for groups (you can PM me if you want to keep it confidential). I don't want to undercut anybody, if anything I would like to push rates up.

Not trying to start a Cartel either, but rates have not really moved in years, but rent, food, etc, has shot up in recent years.

So basically what you are saying Jasmine, is that foreigners are a bunch of a55holes and you wished you didn't have to work with them.

Yunda (Yunnan Uni) Int Ctr
Earlier this year paid 100RMB per hour for IELTS people. Now they are offering 200 rmb for 1.5 hours.

I have half a mind that the Kunming unis are wage fixing. None of the ones I have seen want to pay for flights, half want you to have your own visa, some won't provide accommodation.

One even offered me 1900 a month, and I am experienced. That was what I was offered for a proper contract. I think they wanted me on a Mickey Mouse contract as hourly pay was 100. They were keen to point out how much I could earn if I worked 30 hours a week.

why should a home based tax payer pay for consulates to pander to expats who don't pay tax and are unlikely to add to the home economy? it they did i think the tax payers would be unhappy. spending money attratcting fdi and developing trade is a good use fo tax payers money.

boycotted? it is a trade and industry event, generally. not aimed at building relations with own people. putting the feelers out for FDI into GB. lots of interest there methinks from lots of weatlhy chinese looking to invest.
